New trailer and poster for The Judge

The trailer for Robert Downey Jr and Robert Duvall’s latest film The Judge has arrived online, along with the film’s poster, and it’s a bit of a tear jerker if we’re honest.

Downey Jr, minus his Tony Stark goatee, (although the shadow still appears to be there) must defend his father a local judge in a murder trial, with the only problem being that he hates him.

Directed by David Dobkin who brought us Wedding Crashers, The Judge looks like being more of a serious drama.

Looking at the trailer it will have some deep and at times moving performances from its leading men, which is great as I got pretty sick and tired of Tony Stark after a while.

Supporting is Vincent D’Onofrio, Vera Farmiga and Billy Bob Thornton as the opposing council.

The film is released in the USA October 10th and in the UK a short time after that, the film will be reviewed in a future post.

First trailer for No Good Deed

Idris Elba turns a bit nasty in the first online trailer for home invasion thriller No Good Deed.

Elba plays an escaped convict who on a wet and stormy night sets about terrorising poor Taraji P. Henson whose home alone with her young daughter. Sometimes good folk are just too nice to strangers.

It gives us a chance to see Elba play the bad guy for a change as he uses his massive (and we mean that literally) on screen presence to great effect.

The home invasion thriller is yet another genre that keeps ticking along, done in the right way and you can really ramp up the thrills and chills., get it wrong and its about as thrilling as getting a visit from the gasman.

The film is directed by Sam Miller who also worked with Elba on several episodes of Luther (something which I have yet to see). All things considered, and going by the trailer itself, this looks like it could be a good little thriller.

No Good Deed opens in the UK October 31st.

Frank Grillo to star in The Raid remake

Is there any real point to remaking Gareth Evans high octane action classic The Raid? In one simple word, fuck no!

However, Hollywood have decided that enough time has past (all three years) to remake/reboot the foreign language film, and they have got Frank Grillo on board cast as one of the three main characters.

It amazes me why anyone feels the need that this is a good idea, are filmgoers not able to cope with subtitles or is it that they just cannot be bothered to sit there and read them. Either way it looks like there is no stopping this one and production will be going ahead early next year.

Grillo though, would seem to be well qualified to star in this as he comes complete with 20 years Jujitsu experience, and a black belt, so we’re pretty sure he’ll be dishing out some serious ass kicking.

“I can’t wait to actually go do it because it’s gonna be Americanized, but not overtly Americanized. It’s really gonna keep a lot of what made the first Raid so great,” said Grillo.

Whatever happens they are going to have to work pretty hard to make sure that the fan boys are kept happy!

The film is going to be directed by Patrick Hughes and a release date is yet to be confirmed.

Tom Hardy and Tom Hardy as the Kray Twins

Here’s an exclusive look at Tom Hardy, and er, Tom Hardy playing the Kray twins Ronnie and Reggie.

The film Legend charts the rise to power of two of the most notorious and ruthless London gangsters of their time. Shooting is currently underway for the film and the image below is the first one released.

Set in the 1960′s the film is directed by Brian Helgeland who also helmed L.A. Confidential, so expect it to have a slick yet brutal feel to it. We look forward to seeing a sharp suited Hardy grace the screen once again.

The cast also includes Emily Browning, David Thewlis, Christoph Eccleston, Taron Egerton, Tara Fitzgerald and Chazz Palminteri, and more than likely will be released in the UK next year.

First Trailer for 24: Live Another Day

London’s burning admid total chaos, bullet holes fire into an upturned taxi embossed with the Union Jack, people scream and run in all directions.

This is the hot new trailer for 24: Live Another Day which features a returning Jack Bauer coming out of hiding to foil yet another terrorist attack.

This time the attack is right here in old blighty, and Jack is going to be up to his neck in it as he also tries to evade capture by American forces.

Another character favourite making a return is Chole, who looks to have changed significantly as she shows off a Dragon Tattoo inspired Gothic look.

Personally we’re pretty excited about the series and the return of a much loved character, so expect guns, explosions and unconventional interrogation techniques.

24: Live Another Day is set to hit the US May 5th and the UK soon after.
